A movie about friendship, love, discovering oneself & breaking free. A movie about choices, about long life relationships, about madness, about cherished memories, about life, a movie about dreams. Thats YJHD in few words.
Bunny, Adi & Aditi are best friends from school and plan to go on a trek to Manali. Scholar Naina (also from their school) joins in & her life changes, she changes & gathers memories for life. Bunny dreams about traveling across the globe while Naina wants a simple life with her loved ones. 8 years and they have not met Bunny, for he had given them a surprise on the last day of their trek. And suddenly, Aditi is having a destination wedding with all the taam jhaam. Friends reunite, memories make a comeback and dreams are re-lived.
The movie starts off on a very happy colorful note and take you through a journey of memories. A trek to Manali, friends, masti, lots of memories and love stories. The entire trip, right from when they board the train; makes you want to take such a trip with your friends. The destination wedding in Udaipur makes you want to either attend one or have one. Royal palace, colorful lights, beautiful costumes and music, love in the air- MIND BLOWN.
While you watch the movie, you see a resemblance of yourself in the characters. You connect with Bunny and Naina, you want friends like Adi and Aditi. The movie manages to fill your heart with emotions, a youthful energy and a fire to pursue your dreams, yet keep your loved ones close. A lot of clichés but covered by wonderful performances.
Performances- Ranbir delivers an effortless performance, and with each film he is proving himself time n again. Deepika plays a nerd and totally fits the bill, apart from looking super sexy. Ranbir- Deepika’s sizzling chemistry and the comfort level shows on-screen. Kalki plays her role okay, but you can see her bad dancing skills. Aditya Roy Kapoor is here to stay, and plays the possessive friend perfectly. Though very less focus is given to characters of Kalki n Aditya. And Madhuri Dixit burns the screen with Ghagra. This lady can dance with her eyes and you yearn for more of her. Madhuri and Ranbir totally blast the screen with their moves and colorful adayein.
Ayan- *bows down*. This man is here to give the youth best of cinema. His movies have the youthful energy with a hint of emotions & brilliant locations. The movie is shot well, music totally supports the movie and costumes are perfect. Though the movie could be a lil shorter, you do come out of the theater with a smile. Karan Johar deserves a mention too, for finding the right talent.
My Rating- 4/5
Love is not rocket science, it is just feelings. It is the happiness the other person brings in your life with their presence. Love may be devoid of words but it fills the life with emotions. Love does not think if life will be comfortable after settling down. Love does not think before falling in love & love does not think after falling in love. And those who follow the path of love stay happy, no matter what the conditions are.
Yes, that’s what “Barfi” is. The movie revolves around 3 characters- Barfi, Jhilmil and Shruti. It brings about a story from the 1970’s in the cities of Kolkata and Darjeeling. It expresses the feeling we love, the feeling we detest, the feeling we hate at times, the feeling called “Love”; in the most beautiful & simple form. The movie brings out the essence of Love without the need of words, the pure innocent smile & the beauty of trains. You won’t hear too many words through the movie, but you will feel a lot. This one is for the heart, for the emotions & for Love.
Coming to performances, I felt each and every actor has given an excellent performance. The music takes the movie to another level. Phir Le Aaya Dil was the high point of the movie for me, and it just touches your heart very strongly. There are parts when the movie is slow, there are parts where you feel it’s nothing out of the world but as the movie ends; you are on an emotional high. A brilliantly potrayed movie with moments of Awww-ness.
This movie makes you think on how the essence of love has changed. How we need words to love & how words also fall short to love. A sweet, simple & a heart touching story.
Overall, a must watch for people who think their heart deserves some love every now & then.
“Pata hai, Yahan se bahut door, Galat aur sahi ke paar, Ek maidan hai. Main wahan milunga tujhe”
It’s not just a movie; it’s a journey of a man, of passion and of a third dimension Music. It’s a journey where you identify with some parts; disagree with others, all the while drowning you in the sea of music. Another love story by Imtiaz Ali, yet so different from his earlier movies. He is a man who knows how to deliver emotions right till your heart, and exactly when to strike the chords. The movie revolves around a very common guy Janardhan Jhakar/ JJ who wants to make it big in music like Jim Morrison but realizes it was never what he wanted. This man doesn’t understand Love but when he does, his woman has moved on to follow the “morally correct path”. On the other hand is this woman, who doesn’t really know what she wants and when she knows, she choses to the wrong path. Rockstar is magical music weaved in this confusion, desperation, love and destiny.
I watched Bachna ae Haseenon and enjoyed it to some extent. But 1 question popped in my mind. Are guys really like this?? The character of Ranbir Kapoor potrayed in it completely leaves one stunned. I always thought i know a bit of physchology of guys *thanks to the innumerable stories i listen to and the people i interact with plus the stuff i see around*. I had it in mind that guys cannot be such but after seeing the movie i am wondering. Actually thinking too.
Have heard stuff where guys have more than 1 gf’s and they are doing just time pass. But here Ranbir/Raj looked really serious for Minisha/Mahi and Bipasha/Radhika, but then what happened all of a sudden?. Was it just for fun ,for time pass, a pass to the next by game for him. Just play with feelings of the girls and move on. Now if we suppose such guys do exist in the world *which i am sure they do*. What happens to girls with whom they do like that in the movie? Do/Can such girls move on?. I dont think so because mostly girls get so emotionally attached with the guys. And do guys move on. Ofcourse they do, well most of them. This is a pretty sad situation.
Now reversing the situation. When i can talk about guys being like this,i am sure there are girls too who can be/are like this. Girls who hurt feelings of so many guys and completely destroy them. Guys who are very strong pass the phase but who are very soft and sweet kinds, they completely lose on everything. But girls wouldn’t care. Which is not a good situation either.
Just one thought still lingers. Can guys and girls be really like this. Don’t they understand, the purtiy of relationships?? Is everything in life just for fun?? Can people not respect others emotions and stop playing with them. May be the day everyone realizes this,it would be a much BETTER WORLD 🙂
I end this post with the question that lingers in my mind. Someday when I do find the answer, I shall definitely write on the same.
